What Is SCORE?
SCORE is the premier source for small business advice and mentoring in
America, celebrating 47 years of volunteer service in 2011. SCORE, a resource
partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, is a nonprofit association
for entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small
business nationwide. More than 13,000 volunteers at 350 chapters provide
individual mentoring (in person, by telephone, and online) and business
workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Why You Should Help?
Business and economic vitality is very important to quality of life and
long-term prosperity for communities, families, and individuals. Volunteering at SCORE is a way for you to
give back to your community, connect with fellow business owners, and pass on
your knowledge and expertise to the next generation of entrepreneurs in our
community.
How You Can Help
We seek volunteers of various backgrounds. Primary volunteer opportunities include: 1)
facilitating workshops; 2) mentoring; 3) administration; and 4) others
Be informed about SCORE and help recruit active volunteers to mentor
clients, conduct workshops, and assist with administrative activities. Make it known to your circle of influence
and acquaintances that SCORE welcomes their help.
Volunteer Requirements and
Commitments
Volunteer requirements are flexible to fit the availability and
capability of each individual. The main
requirements include:

agree to comply with the SCORE Code of Ethics
·
complete a three-hour on-line orientation
·
participate in at least one SCORE activity per
quarter
·
volunteer at least 5 hours per month in some
capacity
· have a sincere interest in helping
others and our community
